My Weekend

Saturday hubby went bird hunting with a friend from the NAVHDA chapter. They hunted with his Italiano Spinone (Pearl) and our German Shorthair Pointer (Bella). After hubby seeing 10 grouse last weekend and shooting one, they were disappointed not to see anything but a few deer.

He wanted to go to Warriorsmark on Sunday to hunt pheasants and chukkar but his brother wasn't able to go and couldn't find anyone else to go. Randy was taking his daughter snow tubing at Seven Springs so he wasn't available. I really wasn't interested in driving two hours up there only to sit in the truck the whole time and I couldn't sit in the clubhouse with Bernadette because I have a head cold and don't want baby Janice to get it.

So .... I suggested we drive to Greensburg to get our hair cut and then see a movie. We went to SuperCuts where Rachel did my hair then we walked to Boston Market and had lunch. Yum! Went to CVS for a few things and drove to the theater to see what was playing. We decided on the new Tom Cruise movie, "Valkyrie."

I absolutely LOVED this movie. If you come to the Urban household be prepared to see the History Channel on our tv almost every night of the week. We both love a suspense movie and this one was great! Our only regret was that they didn't succeed in killing Hitler when they had the chance! What a difference it would have made.

We came home, watched Supernatural and then played a game of Scrabble. It was a good day.

Christmas with Fambly

This past weekend we had Christmas with my family. Mom, Dad, my brother and his two kids, my sons and their families, me and hubby. It was great! Everyone seemed happy with their gifts and actually enjoyed my cooking.

Here's a pic of Grandma with Jassmine and the rocking horse.

Christmas Eve we went to my mother in law's for traditional Slovak meal. Yum! I may not have been born into this culture but I've accepted the food whole heartedly!

Hubby's niece and her hubby, Anthony Orio, were up from Nashville. He is a country music entertainer. It was great to see them both!

Hubby's nephew, the sophomore whiz from Middle Tennessee State University, was also up for Christmas. My goodness he gets more handsome, and taller, every time we see him.

All I wanted for Christmas was to sleep in. I got my wish. I woke up at 9 and wished hubby a very Merry Christmas to which he yelled up a very Merry Christmas to you, as well! I gave him his gift package and he handed me mine. Yum, Godiva Truffles! Oh, how I luv this man! He knows the way to a woman's heart. The first gift he ever gave me was a bag of peanut M&Ms and a Diet Coke! It was true love.

Oh, but Christmas Day dinner we went to his brother and sister in law's! Every Christmas Day they host an Open House. It's Glorious! Theirs is a typical Italian-American meal with an entire separate table just for desserts. Oh, how the pounds do pack on! Who cares? At Christmas there are no calories just love and fine food.

Santa and Mrs. Claus made their annual visit to the Urban household to pass out gifts. It was wonderful to see them this year. Last year I was in the hospital. Here's me enjoying my visit with both of them!

Hubby and I were like two young children. We went to bed before 9 o'clock.

It was a wonderful Christmas!

Time is flying by

I can't believe how fast time is flying by! Last week I took Sandy to Pittsburgh for doctor's appointments. Wednesday I stopped by to see Jassmine and Chucky. Saturday was our DAR chapter's anniversary luncheon and that evening the beagle club banquet. Sunday we went to Cabela's and yesterday I cut firewood out at the beagle club with my son Joe. Last night was the monthly meeting for the beagle club. Today I took Sandy back out to the doctor and then we went shopping and had lunch at Eat N Park. I got back home, fed animals, got my bath and now have to fix dinner. One day this week I have to pick up hay for the goats. It snowed overnight and it's snowing now. I need to get a fire going in the woodstove tonight in case the electric goes out. My brother, his two kids and my parents are coming up this weekend so we can exchange gifts for Christmas. Last time I saw my brother was the end of May at my sister's house. Should be a nice weekend.

Saturday

Wow, Saturday already! This week has flown by.

My new MaryKay consultant stopped over on Tuesday. I had fun trying on new makeup.

On Thursday I took Sandy to the hospital to get pins in her thumb. First we went to Shadyside Hospital only to find out she was scheduled at Southside Hospital. 45 minutes went by before we could locate it. It's a little tiny hospital off of Carson St. Thank goodness I am somewhat familiar with Pittsburgh. I worked on Jassmine's sweater in the waiting room and got a lot done. It was really nice to be the caregiver instead of the patient today!

Yesterday my oldest son stopped over to pick up hubby's 30/30 rifle and some hunting clothes. Looks like it would be good to buy some hunting gear for him for Christmas.

I worked the festival yesterday. We had 20 kids from a private school in Latrobe, then 26 ladies stopped in from a club in Greensburg. We had two women who were interested in joining DAR so I had Rosalind take their names and contact information.

Mom called. She was missing me. The annual family get-together is this evening in Frederick, MD. We aren't going. Too much going on for us to drive down. I know we'll be missed.

Haven't heard from youngest son this week. He was supposed to be in Greene Co. for opening day of deer season. I don't know if he got his deer or not.

That's about it. I stopped by Tractor Supply after the festival and picked up some toys for Chucky and Shelby.

1st Day of Deer Season

Today was opening day of deer season here in PA. Hubby went out with his brother and nephew on Saturday to put up their tree stands. He no longer hunts from a tree stand after a bad fall back in '99. He broke his left shoulder and right leg and ended up with Titanium bolts through the leg.

He had a conference call at 9:30 and left to go hunting after it ended. I got a text message from him about 3:30 in the afternoon letting me know he had shot a large buck. It had a 21 inch antler spread. It took him and another friend to drag it to the truck and hoist it up. We'll get it mounted.

His nephew shot a doe. This was his first time deer hunting! They drove to the butcher and dropped off their deer.

We called the taxidermy shop and it will be about 10 months before the mount is ready. He already has 80+ in the shop.

What an exciting day!
